Our holistic program embodies the legacy and practices of the Lincoln Detox movement in the South Bronx, founded by the Black Panther Party, Young Lords, and Mutulu Shakur with the Republic of New Afrika.
This movement pioneered acupuncture to support recovery and wellness for PWUD. We blend this legacy with the politics and practices of the Act Up movement of the 1980s, out of which grew the first harm reduction agencies.
This “unspoken treatment” as we call it, integrates with our other programs to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. In this calming and aromatic environment, acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, cupping, sound baths, reiki, and meditation are used to address trauma, stress, anxiety, drug use, and overdose.
HOLISTIC SERVICES
Free acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, cupping, sound baths, reiki, and meditation services are provided regularly at both our East Harlem and Washington Heights Drop-In Centers.
OnPoint NYC’s Outreach and Public Safety Team connects people to care through mobile services, overdose response, hazardous waste cleanup, and community outreach across NYC neighborhoods.
OnPoint NYC marks four years of OPCs and saving lives: 2,004 overdoses reversed, 7,011 people connected to care, and 244,623 utilizations diverting drug use from public spaces.
At OnPoint NYC, connection is care. Across our East Harlem and Washington Heights Wellness Hubs, we host a wide range of groups designed to promote healing, creativity, learning, and community.
