Senior Director of Programs
Position Summary
OnPoint NYC is seeking a Senior Director of Programs who has significant leadership experience in the fields of Harm Reduction and Wellness and knows how to execute programs to benefit people dealing with substance use, mental health, physical health, and/or housing needs. The Senior Director of Programs will have responsibility for strategic oversight of all organizational programs. The Senior Director will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Leadership Team to determine what aspects of existing organizational programs need to be added, improved, or discontinued. The Senior Director will lead the strategic planning and implementation/start-up of new programs as well as creating advocacy campaigns, educational programs, and social enterprises to continue to broaden the depth and scope of our work. The Senior Director will additionally advise on program policy recommendations and drug user health initiatives that will systematically improve our participants’ wellness and quality of life.

Biweekly Rate: $5,384.62 – $5,576.92
Annual Salary: $140,000 – $145,000
Position Type: Full-Time
Hours Per Week: M-F 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with on call, evening and weekend work required

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Ensure each program operates in compliance with all statutory and contractual requirements, and
that policies are being observed and administered by the Program Directors, coordinators,
Managers and their staff to ensure sound fiscal and operational management and the proper
delivery of services. - Ensure thorough review and understanding of all grants/contracts, legal documents, and other pertinent paperwork to effectively manage daily program operations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality protocols to safeguard sensitive information and uphold organizational integrity.
- Ensure a safe work environment by promptly responding to incidents and implementing proactive safety measures to mitigate risks.
- Prepare and submit reports as required for federal, state, city, or private funders/affiliates.
- Develop and maintain formal partnerships with organizations and individuals to support a comprehensive continuum of care for program participants.
- Support the design and implementation of programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of clients, utilizing evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to promote individual wellness and community resilience.
- Work with the Senior Director of Information, Research, and Evaluation to develop workflows and processes that support timely and accurate documentation in our database systems. Also, implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness and performance.
Leadership
- Participate in the Leadership Team, assigned workgroup activities, and other staff meetings as required.
- Support the agency’s Standards of Excellence and appropriate implementation of the philosophy of care.
- Ensure seamless coordination of program and clinical operations by collaborating effectively with the fiscal, human resources, development, planning, and facilities departments to maximize efficiency and performance.
- Coordinate and/or supervise designated internship programs.
Fiscal Management
- Support agency fundraising and development activities such as grant writing.
- Participate in the preparation of budget and contract amendments as well as annual budgets and work plans across programs.
- Effectively manage budgets and expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and optimize resource utilization in alignment with organizational goals.
- Participate in the acquisition and monitoring process of new and renewals of grants and contacts.
Employee Development and Supervision
- Provide coaching and support for professional development initiatives, fostering growth and skill enhancement.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an ongoing staff training plan across programs.
- Participate in staffing transitions such as hiring, termination, or promotion across programs.
- Conduct regular supervision meetings with direct reports.
Time and Attendance
- Review, edit, and approve timecards
- Ensure direct reports PTO is correctly entered in ADP.
- Inform staff about PTO/sick time balances as necessary.
- Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of management/supervisory experience in a nonprofit or human services organization.
- 5+ years of experience in advocacy and/or community organizing required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Philosophical understanding of Harm Reduction and wellness and ability to practically apply that understanding through evidence-based interventions.
- Knowledge of reporting and management protocols for federal, state, city contracts.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, email management, and internet navigation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, effectively managing tasks and prioritizing responsibilities to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire, motivate, and guide team members towards shared objectives, while effectively delegating tasks and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Proficiency in crisis de-escalation techniques, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively defuse tense situations to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved.
- Demonstrated competence in service coordination and networking with other human service and health care providers.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management, including developing, monitoring, and allocating financial resources effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate cultural awareness and competency, including the ability to understand, respond to, and work effectively with staff, participants, and community members from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work with multiple teams across the organization
- Ability to collaborate and engage with staff and external partners at all levels; must consistently exercise sound judgement and professionalism.
- Excellent presentation skills and public speaking experience required
- Capable of working tactically and strategically- possessing a hands-on approach required
- Interest in working in a non-judgmental environment, where sex workers and drug users have a voice in the creation of programs and policies designed to serve them and “meet them where they’re at”
