Holistic Health Specialist

Position Summary

OnPoint is seeking a full-time Holistic Health Specialist to perform holistic health services including acupuncture to reduce stress and acupressure to people actively using drugs, including injection drug users (IDUs), sex workers, and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C.  

Reports to: Director of Clinical and Holistic Health
Annual Salary: $45,000
Position Type: Full Time
Hours Per Week: M-F 8am-4pm (subject to change)

Responsibilities
  • Provide acupuncture to reduce stress, acupressure,
  • Provide holistic health counseling and complete referrals/ linkages to OnPoint NYC care coordination teams for medical and mental health services. 
  • Assist in providing education around harm reduction and holistic health services.
  • Provide services including but not limited to NADA protocol/auricular acupuncture, acupressure, and reiki in the office and during street-side outreach events to people who use drugs.
  • Identify new locations and settings where PWUD may be living, using, transacting; conduct outreach to these areas as needed.
  • Manage materials and supplies for outreach distribution.
  • Attending meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other related tasks and responsibilities related to the position.
  • Clean and prepare holistic area and restock supplies daily, prior to shift.
  • Clean and conduct safety checks for holistic work area at end of shift.
  • Perform other related tasks and responsibilities related to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be certified as ADS – ACCUPUNCTURE DETOXIFICATION SPECIALIST
  • Must be outgoing, organized, self-motivated, and committed to working in a diverse environment 
  • Must be a team player and able to work effectively with a large variety of personalities and abilities, and pragmatic with excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills 
  • Must be familiar with and believe in a harm reduction philosophy 
  • Must be willing to work outdoors several hours per shift in various weather conditions as needed; some weekend and evening hours to provide outreach services to high-risk populations that congregate during irregular hours 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to work with diverse communities (multi-gender, -ethnic, -generation, -lingual, political) as well as enthusiasm for working with individuals who are current substance users 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and email correspondence
  • Spanish fluency an asset but not required.
