Naloxone Associate
Position Summary
OnPointNYC is looking for an individual to assist with expanding the Overdose Intervention Program, providing training to staff and peers. The Naloxone Associate will maintain community partnerships, and ensure the programs and projects delivered by OnPoint NYC are relevant and up to date to people who use drugs in Manhattan the Bronx, and expansion areas.
OnPoint NYC is an innovative harm reduction organization serving low-income people who use drugs and other marginalized individuals in Washington Heights, East Harlem and the Bronx. The wide range of mobile and center-based services are delivered by upwards of 160 staff and peer workers and include syringe and other safer use supply access and training, overdose prevention, person-centered public health, care coordination, medical care, holistic, peer education, and advocacy services.

Pay Rate:
- Hourly: $23.63 – $24.73
- Annual Salary: $43,000 -$45,000
Position Type: Full Time
Hours Per Week: 35 hours a week/Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for ordering overdose supplies and drug testing strips to ensure all programs are adequately stocked – both onsite and vehicle-based programs
- Collaborate with RPICs to ensure all supplies needed for the Overdose Prevention Centers are ordered and adequately stocked.
- Conduct weekly inventory of Naloxone and drug test strips
- Collect the overdose response checklist weekly from department directors/managers – both onsite and vehicle-based programs.
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure overdose boxes are checked daily and restocked as needed -– both onsite and vehicle-based programs.
- Review oxygen tank forms and replenish oxygen tanks as needed.
- Work with frontline staff to identify adverse batches of drugs. Updates batch alerts and disseminate information to participants and community members (Canary Network)
- Facilitate all one-on-one, group and onboarding naloxone trainings.
- Prepare monthly training schedule.
- Coordinate CPR/AED Trainings for new staff. Ensure each training has a sign-in sheet, set up of room, and take down
- Review all NRFs and Overdose Intervention Forms to ensure they are complete with the data capture.
- Complete and submit NRF monthly reports.
- Complete and submit all overdose reversal data to the health department.
- Occasionally visits East Harlem and Washington Heights overdose prevention centers to provide overdose/overamp intervention and observe/obtain additional information to enhance training sessions.
- Coordinate and lead International Overdose Awareness Day events at Washington Heights and East Harlem.
- Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be outgoing, organized, self-motivated, and committed to working in a diverse environment.
- Must be a team player and able to work effectively with a large variety of personalities and abilities, pragmatic with excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Must be familiar with and believe in a harm reduction philosophy.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with diverse communities (multi-gender, -ethnic, -generation, -lingual, political) as well as enthusiasm working with individuals who are current substance users.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and email correspondence.
- Ability to master a wide range of information and disperse accordingly and professionally.
- Great attitude and people skills are a must.
- Competent and experienced in actual overdose intervention in a variety of circumstances.
- Familiar and competent in rescue breathing, CPR, oxygen administration, emergency airway insertion, seizure/anoxic spasm protocol, J-stroke, and shock protocol.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
