We embody harm reduction, offering a continuum of care that respects dignity and promotes healing. Through love, not punishment, staff support participants to heal and stabilize their lives with agency.
We provide comprehensive services like Overdose Prevention Centers, clinical care, mental health counseling, case management, drug checking, and outreach and public safety, all under one roof. We prioritize holistic, participant-informed care, aiming to improve health outcomes for our community members, often marginalized by society. By maintaining a ‘closed-loop service provision’ and embedding clinical, mental health, and care coordination within accessible programs, we ensure seamless, compassionate care without barriers, fostering stabilization and healing in a supportive, loving environment.
SERVICES
DROP-IN CENTERS
Our Drop-In Centers are safe, no-barrier spaces with free services like hot meals, shower and laundry, safe use supplies and education, digital connectivity, and space to hang out, aimed at fostering community, health, and dignity. These centers serve as gateways to further in-house programs and external providers, addressing immediate needs while promoting longer-term wellness and recovery.
Our holistic services honor the pioneering work of the Lincoln Detox movement and Act Up, blending acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, cupping, sound baths, reiki, and meditation. This fusion nurtures mind, body, and spirit, addressing trauma, stress, anxiety, drug use, and overdose, embodying a legacy of recovery and wellness.
We provide free individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, screenings, and medication prescriptions, through social workers and psychiatric nurse practitioners, supported by peer-led counseling groups.
Our caring medical professionals provide chronic condition management, HIV/Hep C testing, wound care, counseling, and buprenorphine for substance use recovery, addressing health needs caused by housing insecurity and disconnection from primary care.
Our case managers connect participants to programs and services such as health insurance and income benefits, counseling and mental health services, community support and securing vital forms of identification and housing.
We host a variety of daily groups, blending health promotion like MAT support, drug and Hepatitis C education, with recreational activities including open mic, comedy, art therapy, gardening, and beekeeping. These offerings cater to the diverse needs for health, fun, creativity, and talent celebration among our participants.
Our garden in East Harlem is a space for staff and participants to relax, reconnect with nature, and celebrate community. It hosts ceremonies, offers holistic services, marks milestones, supports recovery post-overdose, and facilitates shared meals.
Our Professional Development Program is geared towards participants and staff looking to further their professional skills. We provide training, computer classes, resume-building, and reentry opportunities, equipping participants and staff with economic mobility and stability tools.
Our Respite Program offers a safe haven for rest during operating hours to participants facing housing instability. Recognizing sleep’s crucial role in health, we provide an alternative to traditional shelters, where people who use drugs (PWUD) may feel unwelcome or unsafe. This initiative is key to improving mental function, mood regulation, and overall wellness for those who often resort to sleeping in public spaces.
Our Outreach and Public Safety Teams (OPST) serve East Harlem, Washington Heights, and the Bronx, providing food, clothing, safer-use supplies, and educational materials to community members while connecting them with our comprehensive programs. We clean up hazardous waste, educate on harm reduction, and operate a public safety hotline for syringe disposal and public use diversion, meeting people with compassion and care.
In partnership with NYC DOHMH, we offer on-site drug checking using FTIR spectroscopy and test strips for substances including fentanyl, morphine, cocaine, benzodiazepine, xylazine, ketamine, and methamphetamine. This service, enhanced by lab verification, allows for pre-use testing or post-adverse reaction analysis.
The purpose of our Overdose Prevention Centers (OPCs) is to address the overdose epidemic, connect participants to vital services, and save lives. OPCs offer safe, supportive, and structured spaces staffed by trained professionals to respond immediately to health crises.
